In 1999 Poste Italiane underwent a major corporate restructuring, from which BancoPosta was born.
The new company division deals both with the savings collection among the public and with the offer of other services payment (pension provision, postal bills, postal checks, money orders) and financials such as: issuing and management of prepaid cards, other means of payment; foreign exchange brokerage service; promotion and public placement of loans granted by banks and financial intermediaries; provision of investment and insurance services.
BancoPosta, not having a banking license, cannot be defined as a bank and cannot grant loans without relying on other financial intermediaries.
