Credit default swap

The credit default swap is one of the most common instruments among credit derivatives. Specifically, it is a contract with which the holder of a credit undertakes to pay a fixed periodic sum. The beneficiary, who is the counterparty, undertakes to assume the credit risk.

The credit risk we are talking about is the one that weighs on that asset in the event of a default event.
