The electoral law is the voting system with which Italians are called to express themselves during political elections. Currently the electoral law in force in the Chamber is the Legalicum, while in the Senate the Consultellum is in force. After the warning from the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, Parliament is now working to try to standardize the electoral law for both chambers.
At the moment the two proposals being examined by the Constitutional Affairs Commission are the Mattarellum, the voting system already used since 1994 before being replaced by the Porcellum, together with the Italicum which is the electoral law desired by Matteo Renzi and which was then modified by a sentence of the Constitutional Court.
