Born in 1947, Mario Draghi is an Italian economist, banker, academic.
On February 3, 2021 Draghi accepted with reserve the assignment to form a new Government, as President of the Council of Ministers, by the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella, in light of the resignation of former Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte .
He held the position of President of the European Central Bank from 1 November 2011 to 31 October 2019. In previous years he was President of the Financial Stability Forum, transformed in 2009 into the Financial Stability Board, from April 2006 to 2011 .
He was Governor of the Bank of Italy from 2006 to 2011. As Governor of the Bank of Italy he was a member of the Governing Council and the General Council of the European Central Bank and a member of the Board of Directors of the Bank for International Settlements.
He was also Executive Director for Italy in the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank.
