New Silk Road

The New Silk Road, in English Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), is a strategic project conceived in 2013 by China aimed at developing a whole series of transport and logistics infrastructures, both land and maritime, to improve connections with Central Asia and Europe.

In addition to infrastructure, the agreements would also include collaborations in the energy and telecommunications fields, all to facilitate trade between China and the countries adhering to the agreement.

Even Italy, the first among the G7 countries, is ready to join the New Silk Road, with Beijing expected to finance interventions to modernize the ports of Trieste and Genoa.
