North Korea, or the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea is a socialist state located in the northern part of the Korean island. The capital of North Korea is Pyongyang, the commercial and cultural center of the country which borders China, Russia and South Korea from which it separated following the Korean War.
Despite the isolationist policy and the embargo weighing on the actual growth of the country, North Korea has a strong economy, with an annual growth of 6-7%.
Above all, the Korean economy is driven by heavy industry, which contributes considerably to the national income, and agriculture which, thanks to mechanization and modern irrigation systems, has significantly increased production. The country also enjoys rich mineral resources, especially graphite, magnesite, coal and iron.
