Sweden, officially the Kingdom of Sweden, is a state in northern Europe, in the eastern part of the Scandinavian peninsula.
Sweden is the fifth largest country in Europe after Russia, Ukraine, France and Spain. However, population density is generally low, except in the cities. The hinterland is largely occupied by forests and there are large deposits of natural resources (wood, iron, water).
Sweden is a parliamentary monarchy that is part of the European Union, but not the monetary union. The national currency is the Swedish Krona (SEK).
