Tim Cook

Tim Cook, born Timothy Donald Cook, is an American entrepreneur, industrial engineer and developer. Cook is currently CEO of Apple Inc., a company where he held the role of Chief Operating Officer under the leadership of founder Steve Jobs.

Cook joined Apple in March 1998 as senior vice president of worldwide operations and then served as executive vice president of worldwide sales and operations. He was named CEO on August 24, 2011 before Jobs’ death, which would come in October of that year.

During his tenure as Chief Executive, Tim Cook pushed for new policy reform in international and domestic surveillance, cybersecurity, corporate taxation both domestically and abroad, American manufacturing, and environmental defense.

In 2014, Cook became the first CEO of a Fortune 500 company to publicly identify as gay. Cook also serves on the boards of Nike, Inc., the National Football Foundation, and is a trustee of Duke University.

In early 2012, he was awarded a compensation of one million shares, between 2016 and 2021, by Apple’s board of directors, and in March 2015 he stated that he intended to donate his entire stock capital to charity .
