Born in 2011 as a spin-off of the generic streaming site Justin.tv, Twitch has grown so rapidly that just two years after its inception it became the most popular eSports streaming service in the world, registering 45 million users. In 2014 the rebranding into Twitch Interactive and the acquisition by Amazon for 970 million dollars. The purchase led to a synergy with Amazon Prime: with Prime Gaming you can subscribe to Twitch channels and access a series of benefits and special content.
Even though it is oriented towards the world of gaming, with its growth Twitch has also opened up to content from different sectors, relating to musical events and programs, cooking, art, politics and more.
