Hunter Biden’s income has been a question for years. What do we know now?
As one of the most controversial figures in American politics today, Hunter Biden’s income and wealth is an open question, and one for an widening circle of politicians. There are some problems accurately pinning down how much he earns in part because there are two sets of information – the official numbers and those offered by the MAGA crowd. Who you believe will go far in determining your understanding of how much Hunter Biden makes.
The Official Numbers version
Hunter Biden got his start in the world of the wealthy by becoming an executive vice-president at a bank called MBNA in the 1990s. In 1998, he moved to the U.S. Department of Commerce under President Clinton, then the board of Amtrak under President Bush.
After that, Hunter Biden was certainly the beneficiary owner of Owasco P.C., a consultancy. Over the period of 2015-2018, he made $ 5.8 million at Owasco, mostly through advising a Chinese businessman interested in petroleum deals.
There was $440,000 of income from a Ukrainian company called Burisma that did not get mentioned in tax forms until much later. The Burisma contract might seem odd, given that Hunter had no prior connection to Ukraine. It certainly seemed odd at the time to observers on the ground in Ukraine, where it was considered to be a blatant (and thus foolhardy and doomed) attempt to buy influence. Hunter claims that he was brought in to oversee the cleanup of the company’s tax mechanisms, which he had competence in handling.
The early ’20s were rather kind to him. A 2020 book deal with Simon & Schuster earned him $2 million for his autobiography, Beautiful Things. By 2021, Hunter had moved into the art world, and was selling his own artwork. A one-person exhibition in late 2021 garnered him $875,000.
The MAGA version
Hunter’s father’s political enemies calculate Hunter’s wealth at approximately $230 million. Captialism.com has it at $330. Not million. Aside from the sources mentioned above, there is a table that is used to explain his wealth. And his height. This table, and edited versions of it, is is proof enough for many of those who wish to pursue the Biden family.
The unofficial name for it is the Unofficial Hunter Biden Unofficial Wealth Generator Table. Mass media have not been able to confirm any of the financial figures in the table, and the reader is cordially invited to change any numbers as desired.
