Whatsapp and the new feature to recover deleted messages: how to do it and how to get Accidental delete on your device.

Whatsapp, how to Recover Deleted Messages

Finally Whatsapp has introduced a feature to recover deleted messages. This novelty can undoubtedly help many people who, in a hurry, make a mistake by clicking on the screen and deleting important messages. On the other hand, it must be kept in mind that the possibility of deleting sent messages also for the recipient can prove to be a double-edged sword. By clicking on the wrong item, in fact, you delete the content sent only for yourself, with the opposite result to what you hoped: the recipient can read the message, at the same time whoever sent it can no longer delete it.

Accidental delete to recover deleted messages

In particular, the new feature introduced by Meta is called Accidental delete and is already available for both users with the Android and iOS operating systems. So everyone can already take advantage of this function, which has already passed the test phase that began in August and is therefore not reserved for beta versions. This function is already integrated into the application, so to use it all you have to do is update the Whatsapp application.

The operation of Accidental delete is however decidedly simple and intuitive: following the elimination of any message, a virtual button will appear at the bottom of the screen to cancel the operation. The only criteria for this function to be active is, as for the deletion of messages for recipients, time.

In detail, it is now possible to recover deleted messages, as long as you click on the button to cancel within 5 seconds. However, it seems enough time to notice the error and fix it. Surely in 5 seconds it is possible to understand if the message has been deleted only for themselves or for everyone. In the second case, in fact, the appropriate wording appears to replace the text of the deleted message.

This is probably the most important aspect of the Accidental delete feature, as it allows you to undo the wrong action and proceed with the deletion for the recipient the right way. Thus, it will be easier to avoid gaffes or even simple mistakes that can be a bit annoying.

Retrieve messages after 5 seconds

The use of Accidental delete is therefore really immediate and simple, however it must be known that this function cannot be used in the opposite case to the one just used. When the message has already been deleted, even for the recipient, it is therefore not possible to recover it. In any case, this is not a big problem, because it is certainly more convenient to rewrite the text rather than sending a wrong message.

After 5 seconds it is not possible to recover the message just deleted, but the solution could be represented by some alternative methods. However, they can only be implemented when the message was saved from a previous backup, thus excluding messages written shortly before from accidental deletion.

The easiest way is therefore to uninstall the Whatsapp application and install it again. By doing this, the first user interface will offer the possibility of recovering the messages saved with the periodic backup. Thus it will be possible to restore all messages sent and received within the date of the backup. When the deleted messages are consecutive, success is not guaranteed but it is possible to make attempts.

There are several applications for recovering accidentally deleted data in both free and paid versions. Normally it is sufficient to install the chosen application and start the search, but it is not sure that all Whatsapp messages can be found. The only alternative is to contact a computer technician who will restore it, certainly with a greater probability of success but with a variable cost.
