Champions League

The Champions League, or UEFA Champions League in full, is the most important international football tournament in Europe.

Its history has its roots in modern football, precisely in 1955, and reaches us today with many changes to the rules. The "Champions", so called by abbreviation in Italy, is currently made up of a group phase, in which each group is made up of four teams, and a direct elimination phase with first and second legs.

All teams from countries that are part of UEFA who finish first or second in their national championships automatically access the Champions League. The third-placed teams play the play-off.

The teams that fail to enter the Champions League in the play-off, or those that are eliminated from the group stage, join the Europa League, the second most important and prestigious European competition, together with the fourth and fifth placed in the championships national teams and the winner of the national cup, in our case the Coppa Italia. In the event that the winner of the Italian Cup is already among the top five positions, then a slot is freed up for the sixth place finisher.

The Champions League therefore brings together the best of European football and for this reason it is coveted by televisions for the TV rights and by the teams who receive large sums for participation in the competition, including bonuses, goals scored, passage to the next round and, obviously, the final and victory.
