A Laurea is a degree awarded by universities.
In Italy, the regulatory framework is Ministerial Decree 22 October 2004 no. 270 (which repealed and replaced the previous Ministerial Decree 509/1999), which defines the degrees awarded by Italian universities as:
- Bachelor’s degree, awarded after a three-year course of study requiring at least 180 credits;
- First-level master’s degree, which can only be accessed by those with a three-year degree;
- Master’s degree, which can only be accessed by those with a three-year degree;
- Doctorate.
