George Soros is a Hungarian entrepreneur and economist naturalized in the United States.
Soros is currently President of Soros Fund Management and of the Open Society Institute and is also a former member of the Board of Directors of the Council on Foreign Relations.
He supported the Polish trade union movement Solidarnosc and supported the Czechoslovak organization for the protection of human rights, Charter 77 (manifesto of January 6, 1977 for a liberalization of the regime). All this contributed to the end of the dominance of the Soviet Union in these states.
From the point of view of economic theory, he has promoted concepts such as "dynamic disequilibrium", "static disequilibrium" and "conditions close to equilibrium" understood as the right keys to interpreting economic mechanisms. Popular is his criticism of the current reading of the economy based on rules derived from Classical Mechanics and therefore based on the idea of Equilibrium.
His writings also focus heavily on the concept of "reflexivity" and he has specifically described its effects in markets.
