Huawei is a Chinese technology company active in the telecommunications sector. Founded in 1987 by Ren Zhengfei, it focuses heavily on the production and marketing of telephone sets.
Although Huawei was founded thirty years ago, the international limelight has arrived in recent years, thanks to the launch of affordable and high-performance smartphones. Huawei’s progress is due to the Research and Development sector, in which the company invests more than 10% of its annual turnover, and in which it employs 45% of its employees.
The focus on innovation has led it to overtake giants such as Samsung and Apple, ranking first in 2015 for having registered more than 50,000 patents. This is a record for a Chinese brand, which for the first time entered the rankings of the best brands in the world.
In 2016 Huawei, thanks to the smartphone model P9, managed to establish itself as the third world producer by sales, behind Apple and Samsung, going to undermine the primacy of leading brands in the sector. In 2017, with the Huawei P10 model, the production house definitively launched the challenge to other houses, demonstrating the will to further grow internationally.
Huawei’s fortune is due to practical and state-of-the-art smartphones that keep prices cheaper than their competitors.
