US-Iran War

Tensions between Iran and the US have been high for decades, practically since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, which ended the monarchy in Tehran and established a Shiite Islamic republic.

With the Iranians always being very close to Russia, their great allies, during the Barack Obama administration, the White House attempted to initiate dialogue with the Middle Eastern country by signing the famous Nuclear Pact: lifting US sanctions on Iran in exchange for Tehran’s gradual abandonment of its nuclear projects.

With the arrival of Donald Trump in Washington, however, the United States unilaterally decided to withdraw from the Pact, thus reigniting tensions with Iran, also due to the delicate situation in Syria and Iraq.

The killing on January 3, 2020 of Iranian general Qassem Soulimani however precipitated events, with Iran and the United States now on the brink of war after the Pasdaran attacked two American bases with a missile launch causing 80 deaths.
