Uber

Uber is the car rental service with driver (NCC) launched in 2010 and can be used via app.

Uber was founded in 2009 by Travis Kalanick and Garrett Camp and is headquartered in San Francisco, although today it is present on all 5 continents. Uber’s aim is to connect drivers and passengers with a simple click and provide car rides at affordable prices. For this reason Uber has become the thorn in the side of traditional taxis all over the world.

Everything on Uber happens online: from car booking and trip calculation to payments, everything is managed by the app.

Uber offers different types of service and the price of the ride varies based on these: UberX (small car), UberTaxi (Uber version taxi), UberBlack (sedan), UberSuv (ride in an SUV), UberXL (car with 6 or more seats) and UberLux (elegant and expensive car).

Among the services offered by Uber there is UberPOP, or transfers from private to private. Anyone who meets the company’s requirements can become an Uber driver.

In Italy Uber is active in Rome, Milan and Florence but following numerous appeals by taxi drivers in 2015 UberPOP was declared illegal and blocked throughout Italy for unfair competition.
