2023 will be the year of artificial intelligence in SMEs. The opportunities are there and they come mainly from the European Union.

2023: the year of artificial intelligence for SMEs

Artificial intelligence is gradually entering the daily life of people and SMEs. Like all new technologies it is having some difficulty gaining acceptance, however it seems a matter of time before it is able to convince markets of its usefulness.

It seems that something has actually been changing since end of 2022, i.e. when ChatGPT, the generative artificial intelligence model created by OpenAI, became open to everyone. Its ability to answer seemingly any question has opened up endless possibilities for self-employed individuals and SMEs.

Following ChatGPT, many other softwares have gained popularity, to name a few: Synthesia for creating videos, SpeechText.AI for quickly transforming video and audio into textual; and Dall-E 2, to create images.

What artificial intelligence can do for SMEs

The new software based on artificial intelligence can help many SMEs, as these are sometimes forced to delegate many tasks to the same people in order to survive, due to lack of available funds.

This technology makes some processes faster and more efficient, which leads to a general simplification.

For example, by taking advantage of a model like ChatGPT it is possible to make online searches, translations and many other tasks faster and more accurate. With Synthesia, however, it is possible to create video tutorials quickly and efficiently. Videos, conferences and debates can be transcribed with SpeechText.AI, while with Dall-E 2 it is possible to obtain new images and graphics to exploit at will.

Although some of these tasks may seem trivial, if integrated into your workflow correctly they can help save a lot of time and consequently increase productivity. Just think that the activities carried out using these software can be declined in many sectors: customer assistance, graphics, search for new customers and many others.

Last but not least, it is necessary to remember that artificial intelligence can be fundamental for the IT security of both private and public European IT infrastructure. Given the current uncertainty of the geopolitical scenario, being resilient from the point of view of cybersecurity becomes fundamental.

Thanks to the ability of artificial intelligence to quickly analyze large data sets, it is possible to highlight and predict possible threats, so as to defend yourself promptly and avoid loss of money and data. This is particularly important for SMEs and will continue to be so during 2023.

SMEs and artificial intelligence: what awaits us in 2023

Given these opportunities, 2023 could definitely be the year of artificial intelligence. SMEs are called to seize all the opportunities made available by artificial intelligence, so as to keep up with this rapidly developing trend.

However, to be ridden, a trend needs to be known. The communication will be entrusted to the institutions and the media, who will have to disseminate the news in the sector and the opportunities made available by the various bodies, including the European Union.

The incoming billions will be instrumental in helping SMEs integrate AI into their system, as it can be instrumental in helping them grow and create value in 2023 and beyond.
