By nuclear war, or also called atomic war, we mean a conflict between two countries where both use nuclear weapons. Fortunately, they have never happened so far, even if the past tensions between India and Pakistan, in addition to the current ones between the United States and North Korea, have raised fears for the worst.
The consequences of a nuclear war could be devastating: even a conflict with a limited use of nuclear warheads would lead to the instant death of at least 100 million people, while long-term deaths could reach up to a billion people.
