CES 2023: the New Robots that will Enter our Lives

The Consumer Electronics Show 2023 (CES), the annual tech event set in Las Vegas where some of the technological trends that will accompany us throughout the year are presented. During the past event it was possible to observe many interesting objects: cars, household devices equipped with artificial intelligence and much more.

What certainly did not escape the most attentive users was the massive presence of devices and objects equipped with systems based on artificial intelligence, increasingly used in everyday life.

What many legitimately wonder is whether or not the world is moving towards a "robotization", since more and more everyday objects are equipped with artificial intelligence.

Whether or not this is a good thing is currently not possible to know, however it is certain that this trend must be monitored and managed, so that it does not get out of hand.

What you can do now is enjoy the news, so here are some of the most interesting objects based on artificial intelligence presented during the Consumer Electronics Show 2023.

CES 2023: the most interesting everyday robots

During CES, many devices equipped with artificial intelligence were presented. But something is changing: if in the past the application of this technology was frequent only in devices aimed at performing complex calculation operations, today it is really used in various fields, many of which concern everyday life. Here are some of the new AI-powered innovations you can use every day.

  • Samsung’s new line of smart products

Samsung unveiled its new line of Bespoke products featuring artificial intelligence, including a oven and a fridge.

In the oven there is a sensor capable of detecting over eighty dishes different, so as to set the best cooking settings. Furthermore, if the content is burning, the device is able to send an alert. Finally, it is also an excellent helper, as it is able to suggest what to cook based on what you have at home, if you have no ideas.

Even the new hi-tech fridge presents some novelties. The internal camera equipped with artificial intelligence allows you to always know what’s available and what’s out of stock. This possibility was also present in the fridge presented last year, but on this one there is a larger touch screen.

  • Self-driving stroller

After self-driving cars, pushchairs that can drive themselves are also on the way. The Canadian company Glüxkind has created "Ella", a stroller that can be driven without hands, as it is equipped with a motor that allows it to move forward and an artificial intelligence system capable of detecting the obstacles.

To make movements safe, it is equipped with numerous cameras that monitor the perimeter. The brakes are also quite powerful, these are activated when they perceive that the stroller is going downhill and nobody is holding it.

The comfort inside is also excellent: it is equipped with a system that allows the stroller to move back and forth to cradle the baby and with a small case that emits white noise on request, so as to encourage the baby to sleep passenger. Glüxkind has also created an app that allows you to see where your stroller is in case it gets lost.

  • Citizen partners with NASA and IBM to build new CZ Smart

Citizen, presented the second generation of the CZ Smart, the smartwatch that marked the brand’s arrival on the smartwatch market in 2020. Three years later, Citizen presented the second generation, available in two versions - Casual and Sport - and equipped with a 1.3’’ Amoled display, 8 GB of memory, 1 GB of Ram, GPS, WI-Fi and bluetooth.

The highly anticipated app, YouQ, was also introduced with the watch. This was done in collaboration with IBM Watson, IBM’s research department, and NASA to leverage their knowledge of artificial intelligence. The second generation Citizen CZ smart is equipped with Wear OS 3, the new operating system created by Google for wearable devices.

In particular, thanks to the technology with which it was made, CZ Smart is able to signal when it is necessary to rest and when it is better to exercise. Over the course of 7-10 days, the watch is able to learn precisely the bio-rhythm of the person wearing it.

Furthermore, to monitor their reflexes, the wearer can perform Alert Monitor tests daily similar to those that are also performed on NASA astronauts to check their mental alertness.

  • Breath test to detect illnesses and infections

Among the numerous products presented during CES, this year those capable of monitoring the state of health of people seem to have been particularly successful.

This may in part be due to the historical moment we are living in, where personal health has become a major concern. At CES 2023, Opteev presented ViraWarn, a small device that can detect some infections.

Small and portable, this instrument is a breath test, which allows, by blowing into it, to trace any illnesses or irregularities. In particular, it is able to detect Covid-19, flu and potentially many other viruses in less than 60 seconds. It is very simple to use, just turn it on, blow into it, so that the artificial intelligence sensors track down any respiratory viruses, and wait for the response.

  • Urinalysis Devices

Among the many devices that were presented at this year’s CES, many noticed the unusual number of products capable of analyzing urine.

The choice to monitor urine is very simple: it contains many indicators capable of providing very important health parameters, by analyzing it it is therefore possible to notice if there are present or upcoming health problems. One of the devices presented is U-Scan, made by Withings.

U-Scan consists of a small platform composed of a technologically advanced reader to be placed in the toilet and interchangeable cartridges for analyzes designed to analyze specific values. The control cycle - which lasts three months - allows the specific weight of urine, pH, vitamin C and ketones to be analysed, so as to suggest, for example, correct hydration.

  • The robots will harvest for us

Using technology to free man from the obligation to perform heavy tasks is nothing new, but at CES 2023, companies have nevertheless arrived that have tried to continue this tradition of innovation. One of the Agritech companies present - Agrist - presented a robot capable of recognizing the ripeness level of peppers and proceeding with the harvest if ripe. To carry out this task, the robot is equipped with a mechanical arm, with which it collects, and a basket, in which it stores the peppers.

Thanks to cameras and artificial intelligence, the robot presented by the Japanese company recognizes the characteristics of peppers (ripeness and colour) even if they are covered by layers of leaves.

  • Smart TV sharpness enhanced by AI

The range of Samsung Neo QLED TV goes beyond simple image sharpness, thanks to the use of artificial intelligence. In particular, the range is equipped with a high resolution panel and an algorithm that powers the new Auto HDR Remastering system.

This system uses artificial intelligence deep learning to analyze each scene and apply High Dynamic Range (HDR) effects to Standard Dynamic Range (SDR) content in real time, making it more vivid , brilliant and immersive.

Thanks to the integration of AI inside Samsung smart TVs, it will therefore be possible to enjoy content with a better definition every day.
