Carlos Alcaraz, number 1 in the ATP ranking, has just purchased a luxury hybrid yacht worth 10 million euros: he can certainly afford it

Tennis and luxury: Alcaraz treats himself to a 27-meter yacht worth €10 million.

The youngest world number 1 in tennis history, already 7 slams won and a certificate that on May 5th will be just 23 years old. Carlos Alcaraz is rapidly climbing every possible ranking, including wealth. The Murcian talent is the natural heir to Rafael Nadal: Spanish, a winner, incredibly effective on clay, and now also passionate about the sea and nautical jewelry. Just like Nadal, in fact, Alcaraz has just purchased a dream yacht, luxurious and truly enormous: the Sunreef Ultima 88, where 88 stands for the length, or almost 27 meters.

A treasure that can accommodate 10 people in 5 cabins, across a whopping 387 square meters. And how much does this marvel cost? Around 10 million euros. An enormity, but not when compared to the empire of the young Spanish champion. And who knows, perhaps the defeats at Indian Wells and Miami (where Jannik Sinner dominated) were the prelude to this beautiful consolation gift.

A hybrid and eco-friendly yacht costing €15,000 a tank

Alcaraz’s purchase of the yacht was made public through the official channels of the Sunreef Yachts shipyard, with a photo showing him in Gdansk, Poland, amid the still-under-construction lines of his future floating refuge.

The Sunreef Ultima 88 chosen by the world’s number one is no ordinary boat, but a blend of technology, luxury, and sustainability. We’re talking about a 26.8-meter catamaran designed to combine high performance – up to 26 knots – with a green philosophy that’s increasingly central to the yachting world. At its heart is a hybrid propulsion system combining diesel and electric engines, supported by advanced batteries and over 100 square meters of integrated solar panels. This translates to optimized fuel consumption and the possibility, in certain conditions, of zero-emission cruising.

The interiors, customized directly by Alcaraz, convey another dimension of luxury: a full-beam owner’s suite with a private sauna, bright spaces, select materials, and an “ocean lounge” that transforms the stern into a terrace overlooking the sea. A space designed not for show, but for living.

And then there’s the issue of operating costs, which makes the level of this purchase even more concrete. The fuel tank holds around 6,000 liters. If we assume a price of marine diesel of around 2.50 euros per liter (which remains very low in the forecasts), each tank of fuel reaches over 15,000 euros. This figure alone speaks to the scale of the project.

The impact of this purchase on Carlos Alcaraz’s finances

10 million euros may seem like a disproportionate sum, but in Alcaraz’s case, the real cost of the investment is surprisingly modest. Just look at the numbers. In 2025 alone, the Spanish tennis player earned over $21 million in prize money from his on-court performances. If we look at his career, the total already exceeds $64 million earned exclusively with a racket in hand.

To this must be added his off-court earnings. According to the most recent Forbes estimates, his annual net worth has reached approximately $48.3 million, $35 million of which comes from sponsorships and partnerships. A portfolio that includes global brands like Nike—with a multimillion-dollar, ten-year contract—as well as Rolex, Louis Vuitton, BMW, and other international giants.

For someone like him, therefore, the purchase of the yacht represents a relatively small portion of his overall wealth. Not only that, but the Ultima 88 is part of a broader strategy of diversification and entrepreneurship of his personal assets. In an era where athletes are also global brands, every choice contributes to building a narrative: that of a champion who, despite his youth, manages success with vision. And it doesn’t matter if Jannik Sinner is getting closer and closer on the pitch.

Alcaraz, who continues to live in Murcia near his family, is not known for an excessive lifestyle. This yacht, rather, represents a sort of “controlled escape”: a way to carve out spaces of normality—not ours, but his—away from the spotlight. And while the entry price is €10 million, the true value lies in the chance to tune out, at least for a few days, the noise of the circuit.
