From absurd meme coins to useless tokens: here are the 10 strangest and "stupid" cryptocurrencies ever created, amidst the irony, hype, and madness of the crypto market.

The 10 Weirdest and "Dumbest" Cryptocurrencies Ever Created

Over the past few years, a huge number of new cryptocurrencies have been launched on the market.

Some of these have proven to be highly profitable investments, a veritable fortune for those who have invested in them; just think of the ever-popular bitcoin, whose value skyrocketed and made the most visionary investors millionaires, despite the skeptics.

Others, however, have not suffered the same glorious fate, but have become just as famous due to some truly "funny" characteristics that have distinguished them.

We are talking about the so-called memecoins, cryptocurrencies often born as a joke and characterized by curious and amusing aspects that have made them famous among the cryptocurrency enthusiast community.

In many cases, paradoxically, it was precisely their bizarre, extravagant, and even slightly "stupid" nature that made them successful, and this also contributed to their increased value.

Let’s now see, among the many existing ones, which are the 10 most unique and original types of cryptocurrencies launched on the market.

1) Dogecoin (DOGE)

This cryptocurrency is one of the most famous, but not everyone knows the story behind its creation, which undoubtedly contributed to its viral success and significantly increased its value.

The currency, in fact, was born as a parody of bitcoin and has a truly unique design. This is inspired by the famous internet meme of the funny-looking Shiba Inu dog, which millions of users have associated with all sorts of cartoons.

Its design depicts the meme’s protagonist, along with the letter "D," the initial of DOGE, the name of the social media star dog.

Elon Musk, who then gave a substantial boost to the purchase of this memecoin. In fact, it was the well-known multi-billionaire himself who, in February 2021, published a photomontage of X in which he promoted the coin, thus giving it a substantial boost within the market.

2) Pandacoin

Still on the subject of animals, Pandacoin is another of the strangest cryptocurrencies ever created. Its symbol is a panda and draws inspiration from the unconditional love for this creature, which, as the WWF also attests, is one of the most beloved and beloved creatures around the world.

Although it hasn’t received much media coverage compared to other coins, it has nevertheless achieved a decent value and has wallets for various platforms, including Android and Windows.

3) PooCoin

PooCoin is a token that takes its name from the platform on which it was created: PooCoin.app. Its symbol, as its name suggests, is a stylized poop with a smiling expression.

Although the coin itself is questionable, the app it comes from is serious and functional and is popular enough to follow the latest developments of various tokens distributed on the Binance Smart Chain.

4) FreeCoin

Effortless money is a dream shared by all, and this coin was created with the precise aim of making it a reality.

However, contrary to what its name suggests, this coin isn’t entirely free, but it does have a relatively low cost, making it ideal for those new to the world of cryptocurrency.

5) LoserCoin

This coin has a story that we might describe as somewhere between touching and paradoxical. In fact, it appears to have been created by two Chinese investors who, having lost a significant amount of their savings with other cryptocurrencies, attempted to recoup their losses by creating their own personal token.

It must be said, however, that the name doesn’t bode well, and it’s hard to explain why it currently has more than 100,000 holders.

6) Cat Token

Although the cryptocurrency market is dominated by its natural counterpart, the cat has recently joined the fray.

The name may seem strange, but this coin was actually created with particularly noble intentions: its goal is to support communities of stray cats by donating profits made through the exchange.

The token’s slogan is literally: "created for people who love cats," and it even features a mascot, the Mooncat, a sort of astronaut cat that has become the symbol of the movement.

7) Trump Coin

This memecoin was launched recently, in January 2025, to coincide with the ascension of the newly elected US President Donald Trump.

It initially boomed, accumulating almost $100 million in two weeks, only to subsequently experience a substantial decline.

8) Moo Deng Crypto

This cryptocurrency with a peculiar name was launched following the birth of a baby pygmy hippopotamus in Thailand in July last year.

The little animal, named Moo Deng, went viral on social media after a special TikTok profile was created for it, quickly gaining several thousand followers.

Therefore, a token dedicated to it was a must-have, attracting the interest of various investors.

9) PEPE

PEPE is a meme coin that operates on the Ethereum blockchain. This coin owes its name to the famous "Pepe the Frog" meme, which became popular in the early 2000s, which inspired its creators.

10) Dogelon

As you can see from the previous coins, it’s clear that the cryptocurrency community has two main passions: dogs and Elon Musk.

Starting with this idea, the creators of Dogelon have launched a cryptocurrency that combines both elements in its main symbol: a funny dog resembling the South African tycoon, characterized by its proud and slightly bewildered look.
