Highest paying jobs in the world, the most trending (and best paying) professions update in 2023.

These are the highest paid jobs in the world: a list of the most remunerative professions

The list of highest paid jobs in the world is enriched every year with some new profession; on the other hand, the labor market is being renewed and the development of new technologies leads to the birth of new professional figures who, often requiring specialized skills, are also well paid.

Therefore, every year it is good to go back to the list of the best paid professions in the world in order to find out if there are any emerging jobs that you can devote yourself to, or even just out of simple curiosity.

It must be said that to date there is no ranking of the highest paid jobs in the world: the most recent surveys, in fact, are mostly limited to national borders. Therefore we can only draw a list of the most remunerative professions ever, jobs for which, in any case, a very high salary is due regardless of the country.

What are the highest paying jobs in the world?

A question often asked by those who do not have the courage, the desire or the luck to set up their own business and prefer to secure a monthly salary as an employee or at the very least practice as a freelancer, without the anxieties and risks of entrepreneurs (but not even possible exorbitant earnings).

Here is an updated list, from which, however, we have excluded the so-called "managers": company managers, board members, managing directors (CEO), newspaper directors, marketing managers, personnel directors or purchasing office managers, in fact, it is very difficult to identify an average of the salaries received since they almost always have individual contracts agreed from time to time depending on their experience as well as naturally on the basis of the size of the company where they practice.

But above all they are top positions, which one generally reaches after starting one’s career at a lower level. Here, then, what are the ten highest paying jobs in the world.

Aerospace engineer

In the United States, an aerospace engineer reaches stellar figures of $50,000 a month. On average, it comes to about €75,000 a year to design planes, helicopters, satellites, spacecraft and space vehicles. Far from simple. And among engineers, aerospace beats every other category, from electronics to information technology.

Flight controller

It will be less fascinating than being an aerospace engineer, and certainly being a pilot as well, as we will find out shortly, but the flight controller is a very complicated profession that deserves an average global salary of €79,000 before taxes. After all, he has an enormous responsibility: directing and controlling air traffic.

Underwater Welder

You will hardly hear anyone say they want to become an underwater welder, yet it is one of the ten highest paid jobs in the world with an yearly global average of €82,000. What does he do? Simple: weld metal underwater.

Software developer

Here the calculation gets tough, with a possible world average of €85,000. A senior can reach €300,000 a year, but it is an atipical position usually at the top of one’s career. In the United States, where the demand is very high, salaries reach up to $130,000. Unlike the programmer, a developer creates and codes ICT solutions by writing product specifications in accordance with customer requirements.

Political Advisor

The spin doctor profession has not gone out of fashion over the years: indeed, with the greater influence of social media, there are more and more requests. Obviously, also in this case the salary varies according to the importance of the position: those who are behind large political groups, or in any case government authorities, with the intention of improving their public reputation, can get to earn in fact, hundreds of thousands of euros a year, but on average the annual salary is around €85,000.

Pilot

In terms of appeal, especially towards children, it certainly surpasses accountants and university professors that we will see in the following paragraphs. Moreover, many dream of flying all their lives and with an average earning of around €88 thousand (which become $184,000 in the USA) certainly the desire does not pass.

University professor

Teachers are poorly paid everywhere in the world, but for university professors the situation is completely different. The average is around €90,000 per year, obviously always before taxes. Of course, getting to a professorship in universities is not easy and you have to go through various steps, certainly less rewarding. But in the end the satisfaction, even economic, is enormous.

Cloud architect

Before understanding how much he earns, you should know what he does. Of course, it doesn’t design clouds. Want a definition? Design and manage cloud architectures, i.e. IT environments that extract, group and share scalable resources across a network and that are flexible and always adaptable to the company’s business needs. It seems complicated, in fact the figure is in great demand, especially in the United States, and on average it earns €100,000 a year.

Marketing Manager

Increasingly in demand by companies are marketing specialists who can be entrusted with the creation, management and development of their sales plans. Among the tasks to be carried out we also find market analysis, as well as budget management and corporate public relations management. All for an average salary of around €70,000.

Accountant

The estimate is approximate, because in reality, the salary of an accountant fluctuates between €50,000 and €300,000 per year and depends on the number of clients, since they are freelancers: excluding borderline cases, the figure reaches €100,000. The difference, compared to lawyers, is that there are much fewer of them and none of them carry out non-profit services. To access the profession it is necessary to pass a public competition, the function is to give legal and probative validity to certain acts.

Broker

The world average for a profession that has always aroused the fascination of the most "enterprising" young people is around €115,000 a year. The broker is generally a freelancer, but may also work for an investment bank. Its function is to sell or buy assets on behalf of third parties, identifying the most suitable financial instrument for the client. If previously he physically carried out his business mainly on the stock exchange, now it is easier to find him in the office, behind a computer. Who becomes a broker? You have to enroll in the register, a degree in economics or mathematics is not necessary but it helps, even better a master’s degree in Business Administration.

IT Manager

With all companies now aiming for digitization, the IT manager - i.e. the figure who supervises the entire IT infrastructure of the company, guaranteeing its effectiveness and ensuring its security - is becoming increasingly important. So much so that the average salary stops just short of €100,000.

Doctor

In the most recent rankings drawn up in the United States of America on the basis of official data, in the first ten positions there are nine medical specialties going from the $208,000 a year for an anesthetist (as well as for surgeons, orthodontists, gynecologists) to $170.000 of the pediatrician. On average, a surgeon earns around €118,000 a year according to some estimates, then it is clear that the salary is not the same all over the world.
