Anthropic filed its IPO prospectus with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) on Monday, October 26, 2026, disclosing a loss of $80.7 billion for the first six months of the year.
Anthropic files IPO prospectus with the SEC. It will debut on the Nasdaq under the ticker ANT
Anthropic said it intends to list on the Nasdaq under the ticker ANT.
The S-1 document filed with the SEC puts the IPO of the company behind Claude, a leading player in the generative artificial intelligence boom, in the week before Thanksgiving. The holiday falls on Thursday, November 26 this year.
Early forecasts pointed to an October listing. The Wall Street Journal had already reported that the timing would likely slip to November, giving the group time to share third-quarter financial data with potential investors.
Anthropic reports an $80.7 billion loss in the first half. 2025 losses quintupled
The prospectus carries news that cools the enthusiasm of anyone bullish on AI stocks, following information about the company’s accounts that emerged a few days ago.
The document shows that in the first six months of 2026 Anthropic lost a full $80.7 billion, against a loss of $12.9 billion in the same period of 2025.
For 2025 as a whole, the loss widened to roughly $41.9 billion, compared with $8.3 billion in 2024. In a single year, the loss quintupled.
Anthropic was co-founded in 2021 by CEO Dario Amodei, who left OpenAI with a small group of researchers. OpenAI is now its main competitor.
The success of Claude and its related services is undeniable, with a range of companies willing to invest heavily to find new growth opportunities and improve internal efficiency.
Anthropic’s expansion accelerated in 2026, driven above all by the popularity of Claude Code, its AI coding tool, and advanced models such as Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5. Competition has intensified at the same time, and the company is working constantly to fend off rivals, in particular OpenAI and Google.
Anthropic recently came under scrutiny after one of its researchers, on resigning, said there is a 10% probability that AI ends up killing everyone within the next decade. The comments landed on the company, which published a report days later setting out its position. The prospectus filed with the SEC is available HERE.
Anthropic highlights the diversification of its business
In the IPO prospectus, Anthropic stressed the diversification of its business, noting that “no single customer accounted for more than 10% of our revenue in the nine months ended September 30, 2026”. It added:
“We expect that, for the foreseeable future, we will continue to derive a significant share of our revenue from a limited number of customers and that, in some cases, the share of revenue attributable to certain customers may increase further.”
The prospectus also showed that, as of the end of 2026, revenue from customers buying through cloud service marketplaces accounted for 48% of total revenue.
