The Internet speed varies significantly between different countries, influenced by factors such as technological infrastructure, investments and government policies.
To understand which countries have the fastest internet connection we can refer to the reports of the Speedtest website which, almost monthly, draws up a ranking of fixed and mobile broadband speeds around the world.
Based on the latest data released in November 2024, here are the 10 countries in the world with the fastest internet, with the speed measured in Megabits per second (Mbps).
- Singapore 285.02
- United Arab Emirates 283.34
- Hong Kong 271.05
- Chile 263.32
- United States 244.68
- Iceland 242.03
- France 232.30
- Thailand 230.98
- Denmark 224.82
- China 223.57
It is important to note that these speeds represent national averages and may vary within each country, with differences between urban and rural areas. Furthermore, connection speed can be influenced by factors such as the technology used (fiber optics, DSL, etc.), network congestion and the policies of Internet service providers.
Singapore would be the country with the fastest internet in the world, while it is curious to see Chile in fourth place, which in this ranking also surpasses the United States.
According to these tests, in last place for internet speed instead is Cuba which at the bottom of the ranking does worse than Afghanistan, Syria and Yemen.
These are instead in detail the 10 countries in Europe where the internet is fastest.
- Iceland 242.03
