When Grok, the chatbot of xIA, was launched in 2023, this tool was made available only for premium users of the social network X. Now, however, everything has changed.
The big news is that Grok would now be available to all X users and no longer just the premium ones, all without any costs.
This means that Grok is now free for all X members, although a limit has been introduced: you can’t send more than ten messages every two hours.
Let’s see in detail how Grok works, the chatbot with which Musk intends to break into the world of artificial intelligence - as always in his own way and in grand style.
How Grok works
From its presentation, it was immediately clear that Grok would be a chatbot different from the others. Elon Musk and his artificial intelligence startup xAI have programmed it so that it answers sarcastically and sometimes even over the top.
As stated in the press release issued by xAI on the occasion of the 2023 presentation, “Grok was designed to answer questions with a bit of humor and has a rebellious streak, so don’t use it if you hate humor!”
The aspect that seems to have attracted the most attention from observers, however, is the source from which Grok will draw to find the information and respond to users.
In fact, Elon Musk’s new chatbot will have direct access to information shared in real time by X users, which makes it potentially a very useful and powerful tool, especially compared to those chatbots that do not have real-time information.
As for Grok’s capabilities, the presentation release states that the engineers who designed it tested its artificial intelligence through some standardized machine learning tests so that they could compare it to that of other very popular models, such as GPT-3.5, PaLM 2, GPT-4.
Like other competitors, Grok will now be available free even if in a limited way to X users, but there are also new features from a technical point of view.
In fact, Grok has now added Aurora, an image generator that is also based on artificial intelligence: according to the first reviews, the service seems to excel in the realism of the images.
How to use Grok from Italy
Let’s now see in practice how to use Gork from Italy which was initially limited to the United States only, but in spring 2024 it received the ok from the community authorities to operate in Europe too.
Despite this Grok is not available in Italy at the moment, unless you use the trick of connecting via a VPN.
