Just days after the rollout of GPT-5.5 Thinking, OpenAI is doubling down with GPT-5.5 Instant, a new standard AI model that will soon be available to all users. The company’s main goal this time is to deliver technology that lets the chatbot answer more accurately and with a lower error rate.
According to OpenAI, the model is designed to be far more reliable than GPT-5.3 Instant, especially in sensitive domains such as finance and law.
How GPT-5.5 Instant works
With GPT-5.5 Instant, the number of hallucinations has dropped sharply. According to internal benchmarks, the improvement is most visible in technically demanding fields: GPT-5.5 Instant produces 52.5% fewer false statements than GPT-5.3 Instant. Reliability also improves on more complex conversations, with a 37.3% reduction in incorrect responses.
Beyond accuracy, GPT-5.5 Instant is simply more powerful. Logical tasks and the handling of longer queries have been redesigned from the ground up. The personalization layer has also been overhauled: the new model can analyze the contents of previous chats with unprecedented precision, and it factors in uploaded files and connected services such as Gmail.
But the most interesting change is something else entirely: ChatGPT will soon be more transparent about the data sources used to generate a response. Users will be able to verify in real time whether outdated information from past chats or earlier documents has been pulled into the answer — and remove anything they don’t want with a single click.
When GPT-5.5 Instant arrives
GPT-5.5 Instant is already available worldwide as of today. As OpenAI explained, the advanced personalization features are initially exclusive to paying Plus and Pro subscribers on the web version.
It’s a gradual rollout, however: over the coming weeks the full benefits of GPT-5.5 Instant will reach Free users and enterprise accounts as well.
To start using it now, all you need to do is open the official ChatGPT website and log in with your profile. The basic chatbot tools are already live, while accessing the more advanced features may require a paid subscription plan.
