Donald Trump has been following in approval ratings in the last few weeks. Does he still have a chance? And what do NFTs have to do with it?

Trump's “Major Announcement” was not major at all… Does he still have Chances?

Former US president Donald Trump seems to have found a new source of income for his 2024 campaign. This was the “major announcement” that he promised yesterday on Truth, his own social network.

America needs a new superhero,” said Trump yesterday on Truth, posting a video of his cartoonish version shooting lasers from his eyes.

And here it is, Trump’s big announcement. Behold! It’s digital art depicting him as a superhero. NFTs, for lack of a better word, which will be sold for $99 each. “These limited edition cards will feature amazing ART of my life and career,” he wrote.

He added that these cards would make amazing Christmas gifts and to hurry! They will certainly be sold very quickly!

This very curious move has been immediately ridiculed on Twitter, Trump’s former social network of choice. He was banned from the platform in January 2021 following the assault at the Capitol, and later launched his own social network.

Truth is currently available in the US only. Being born as a platform exclusively for Trump’s followers, it makes perfect sense. Some of his posts, however, can make it out to Twitter in the form of screens, with often derogatory descriptions.

His Twitter account has been re-established by Elon Musk, the new owner of the social media. Trump, however, doesn’t seem interested in going back to Twitter, at least for the time being. He will likely carry on his presidential campaign on Truth.

Trump and the 2024 elections: what chances does he have

Donald Trump announced his candidacy at the 2024 elections back in November, one week after the Midterm elections. These elections did not go as he had planned, as there was no sign of the "Red wave" much talked about.

The Democrats held control of the Senate and the Republicans won the House only with a slight majority, but this did not stop Trump. His chances in 2024, however, might be even lower now than when he gave the announcement.

A recent US poll showed that Donald Trump’s approval is at an all time low. His ratings are at the lowest they have been since 2015, when he was about to run for the first time.

The poll showed that only 31% have faith in Trump, accounting for 70% of Republican voters. A significant number but definitely not enough to win an election.

The poll suggested that the ratings fell after Trump’s announcement of subverting the Constitution to declare him as the rightful president. Nobody, not even the average Republican voters, agreed with this position.

So now he is selling NFTs… Has Trump gone out of ideas? Is this just a way to get more revenue streams for his campaign?

Whatever the case, even if we still don’t know who the Democratic candidate will be, the party race for 2024 is pretty much closed for now.
